I'm trying to install JFBConnect on a Windows 7 system using IIS.

My current error is:
* It was not possible to copy the selected file.
* JInstaller::install: Failed to copy file: C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\joomla\tmp\install_4d7187fcf3ad0\component\index.html to C:\inetpub\wwwroot/...

There have been multiple attempts at changing permissions, all with no luck.

Thank you.

My guess is that you're trying to install on Joomla 1.6. JFBConnect is not compatible with J1.6 yet, but we're hoping to have a release for that version out by the end of this month, or early next month.

If you're using Joomla 1.5 and encountering this issue, let us know. That's not an error we've heard of, Windows or not, with 1.5, and so would take more investigation to solve.

Thank you

Unfortunately it is Joomla 1.5.22...

How else can I help?

That's good. Sorry I jumped to that conclusion. Had a few users trying to install on J1.6 lately, and that's the error they're getting.

The next thing to try is a manual installation. To do this, you'd unzip the entire contents of the JFBConnect package (or FTP) to a directory in your sites temp folder like c:\Inetpub\wwwroot\joomla\tmp\jfbconnect

Then, in the Joomla Installer manager, use the Install From Directory option and give that same directory folder. This bypasses the uploading and uzipping issues which, unfortunately, happen on some server configurations.

The only thing confusing from what you pasted above is the very end of the line: netpub\wwwroot/.. Not sure if that was an accident or not, but the last slash is a forward slash, which is more for Linux. If you can paste the whole error line you're getting, that may help further narrow down the issue if the above doesn't help.

Keep us posted, and good luck!

I haven't tried manual installation just yet. In the meantime, here is the full error. I wanted to make sure I was allowed to post the full file path first from my supervisor.

* It was not possible to copy the selected file.
* JInstaller::install: Failed to copy file: C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\joomla\tmp\install_4d7187fcf3ad0\component\index.html to C:\inetpub\wwwroot\igm\components\com_jfbconnect\index.html

The forward slash was a typo on my part when removing the end of the path.

Thanks!

I tried manual installation with no luck. I unzipped com_jfbconnect_j1.5_v3.1.2.tar.gz and got com_jfbconnect_j1.5_v3.1.2.tar, then I extracted the contents of that and put it into the joomla tmp directory.

* It was not possible to copy the selected file.
* JInstaller::install: Failed to copy file: C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\joomla\tmp\component\index.html to C:\inetpub\wwwroot\igm\components\com_jfbconnect\index.html

Thanks!

Sorry for the delayed response.. I'm sure you want to get this up and running.

The paths that Joomla is copying from and to seem odd. Is the tmp directory for your Joomla site in a different directory than the Joomla site itself? While it's ok to do that, it's possible that that's the problem (reading from a directory outside of Joomla). Can you explain more about your configuration, or try to change it so they're more similar (\wwwroot\joomla... vs \wwwroot\igm\...)

Also, are you having this trouble with any other extensions, either related to JFBConnect, or not?

We'll help you get to the bottom of the problem though, and hopefully, you'll be up and running soon!
