Hi Alex,

I am still struggling with what needs to be done to get the like button installed on all of our articles in K2 (v2.4.1 (Joomla v1.5.22)). I used/played with the settings in the plugin and that had no effect. So I thought maybe I needed to add a tag/attribute to my stylesheet but I haven’t had any luck with that either. I have looked over a variety of posts in the forum as well as your configuration guide and the blog post you sent me. I am still seeking an answer so ... I hate to be a bother but …. Thanks.

Todd

Well huh, looks like it's time to update our configuration guide.

We released the JFBCContent plugin earlier this month that should do exactly what you're looking for. It's in your downloads area, and lets you automatically add a Like button and/or Comment box to any article with a few different configuration options.

For more information, see our blog post about it. We'll get on the guide shortly and the next rev of JFBConnect will look for this plugin in the Overview page where we check if things are configured right.

Hope this helps!

Hi Alex,

I have gotten the various parts of JFBC working and have a question. Can we have the like button auto publish on every article new and old? We currently have about 2-300 articles on our site and I don’t want to do this manually. I finished the JFBConnect 3.0 Configuration Guide and it only explains how to inset the tags manually.

Hey there, very sorry for the delayed response. We're still catching up on a few things from the holidays. I didn't realize in your emails that you're using K2. Unfortunately, K2 doesn't use standard Joomla Content plugins.. we need to create one specifically for it. Rest assured, that's in the pipeline, but it's not available yet. We wish they'd used regular content plugins in addition to their own plugin system, but alas, it's a great extension (we use it for our blog) so I can't critique it too much.

We should have something out soon, but are focusing on finalizing JFBConnect 3.1 right now.. which should be out sooner. Sorry for the inconvenience, but hopefully this explains the issue.

Thanks for getting back to me. I was able to figure out a way to get the like button installed on all of my articles without a K2 plugin. As it turns out K2 has a feature that lets you paste code right from facebook. It is found in the K2 parameters which is in the upper right hand corner. then shcrol about halfway down and paste your code in the social setting "social code" field. So it will work without a plugin.

K2 also offers share functionality which is enabled by going to the K2 dashboard, select categories, then select a particular category you want it on. After selecting that you need to find the "Item view options". Scroll down and enable "share social links" that option So you might not need to invest the time into developing the K2 plugin but your plugin may allow for better feature placement, control and possible the reporting feature you mentioned might be coming out soon.

If you want to see it in action you can go to www.ecoevaluator.com
Thanks for the great product and support. Cheers

Are there any news on getting a K2 integration built in?

I have a new website dev.volontarresor.se/vem-aer-du/45 and I get like button and comments on Joomla native articles.. But not any K2 articles like: dev.volontarresor.se/component/k2/item/38-indien-kort

Perhaps someone has a suggestion on how to implement jfbconnect with k2 through hacks? or is native k2 support planned any time soon?

Sorry for the delayed response. It is planned, and shouldn't be too difficult. There's a few tasks ahead of full integration for adding Likes/Comments to articles, but it's high in our priority list. We use K2 on this site for our blog, and understand the need for it.

Hope this helps, and we'll definitely let you know when we have anything available. Off the top of my head, I don't have any great suggestions though other than adding the JFBCLike and or JFBCComment module to your articles (or using the {JFBCLike} / {JFBCComment} tags).

Just an FYI on this, you can add the like or comments to your K2 template, that way they are automatically inserted.

Cheers,

Rich

Rich,
How can I do this?
What needs to be inserted and where, please.
I really need to have this on my website, all articles are on K2.
Thank you very much.

Cezar/all,
We'll be adding K2 integration, similar to the content integration, in a future release. As we're developing it, we'll likely put up an integration guide for users that want to add it to their K2 template before we have an automated system to do it.

K2 integration for Likes/Comments (along with the same for VirtueMart) are high on our new feature list of things coming as it's requested a bit.

Hope this helps,
Alex

Are the guidelines for adding Like / Send button and Comment box to K2 items already available?
