Invite Module was created by MJW
Hello, I have noticed over the past few days that the invite module which used to list my friends on Facebook, has ceased to do this and just shows the loading sign. I have upgraded to your latest release today but the problem is still there. Is there anything else I should do please?

Do you have a link to a page we can look at to see the issue? Not sure off-hand. It's working on our demo site, but Facebook has changed their code in the past and caused incompatibilities.

Thanks

Hello, Many thanks for your reply. My site is www.ariegeaudeforum.com/ and the module is on the home page. I have now tested the module by logging in via Facebook, my Facebook photo is picked up by your login module but although the invite module seems to be searching to connect with Facebook it still doesnt pick up the list of friends like it used to.

I noticed a few issues when trying to recreate the issue on your page.

First, when initially using the "Login with Facebook" button, we're brought to JFBConnect's registration/login page. When I enter my desired username/email, JFBConnect checks if it's available and shows an image that is normally included in a Joomla installation. It's not on your site, so the broken image is showing. This should be a 'check' or 'x' for available or not available. The images we use are /images/apply_f2.png and /images/cancel.png.

Second, after I try to create a new user, I'm sent to the normal Joomla registration page with the message that the captcha is incorrect. This is preventing JFBConnect from creating the new user and associating that account with the Facebook user.

I've never seen a captcha module disable JFBConnect like this. We normally bypass these checks since we require a Facebook user to be logged into the site as well. Is there any way to disable your captcha extension on JFBConnect's pages? If you can let us know what captcha extension you're using, we can also try to do some testing to determine where the conflict is.

Earlier today, when I was first testing this stuff, I was able to get into the home page and see the condensed Invite module in the sidebar. This was using the Chrome browser. After I tried again just a second ago, it seems that you've disabled the invite module. Can you let me know what browser you were seeing it not appear in? That will help us debug it going forward.

Hopefully the above feedback helps get to the bottom of some of the issues.

Hello Alzander, Thank you very, very much indeed for taking so much trouble over my problem, I do appreciate it. I'm sorry to have confused you, I did take the invite module off the front page after I saw from my stats that someone from sourcecoast had visited the site. I thought you had seen all you wanted and the fact that the module just kept loading was slowing down my front page - I will put it back on again now. I have had a lot of trouble with spam bots and have tried 4 or 5 different programmes the one I have at present is EasyCalcCheck PLUS and this appears to work since I put it on I haven't had any human (not bot) say that it has prevented them from joining the site. I will delete your membership so that if you want you can try again. Do you want me to change the config of JFBConnect - I have it on Full Joomla user at the moment? You asked what browser I see this error in, I use Firefox. I just tried disabling EasyCalcCheck and logging it, Im afraid it didnt make any difference, the invite module still didnt pick up my Facebook friends. Again, many thanks ineed.

Unfortunately, the Captcha check is failing every time for me now. When I try to log in using Facebook, I try to create my account through the JFBConnect login/register page. When I hit "Register", I'm brought to:
www.ariegeaudeforum.com/index.php?option...check_failed#content

On this page, even after entering the proper captcha, I'm redirected to the same page with:
You failed the spam check. Please try again!

To help us test further, and prevent a never-loading module on your home page, can you enable the JFBCInvite on a less-trafficked page of your site in the side bar? That way, the home page won't look 'stuck', but we can still test as we get through the other issues we're seeing.

Thanks,
Alex

Hello Alzander, Thank you again for all the trouble you are taking. This fault actually becoming more weird. I moved the module from the front page to web links and it worked there instantly so I thought great there is only a conflict on the home page. I then put the module on to three other pages and it not only didn't work on them but it also stopped working on web links. I have now put it only on web links it didn't work this time initially but after reloading that page a couple or times and at the time of writing it is working well there! I appreciate intermittent faults are difficult to detect, sorry to be such a nuisance. I will turn off the captcha so that you can test the login again if you would like to. Best wishes

MJW,
No problem for the testing and help, it's what we do.

I just logged in using Chrome and didn't have any Captcha issues. Not sure if it's off completely, or if you found a way to disable it for JFBConnect. I'm not familiar with the extension you're using to prevent spam registrations, but if you need help investigating how to make it and JFBConnect play well together, let me know.

As for the Invite module, with both Chrome and Firefox, I logged into Facebook and went to the WebLinks page. I reloaded each about a dozen times, and it loaded properly every time. Are you still seeing the intermittent loading problem?

In neither browser, did I see a Javascript error (which can commonly cause the loading problems) or really anything else that would be the likely culprit. If you are able to recreate the issue more reliably, I'd suggest trying to override the template and see if the issue persists. This may help narrow it down further. If you use the following link, it will load your page in the default Joomla template. Let us know if you can (or cannot) still see the loading issue when using this template:
www.ariegeaudeforum.com/index.php?option...emplate=rhuk_milkway

Thanks, and good luck!
