Welcome Message next to avatar

Hi.
First of all, I tried searching the forum but I couldn't find a solution. I;m not very good with divs so your help would be appreciated.

I'm trying to modify the login module so that after login the avatar and welcome message show next to each other. Right now the welcome message goes under the avatar. I'm attaching a picture to show you what I want. The red crossed-out is what I currently get and the black Welcome message is where I want it to appear.
