Did this happen right after you upgraded, or did you possibly change anything else?

We did change how avatars are imported in this release to resolve issues on some server configurations. Additionally, after we download the avatar, we're asking Joomla to move the file from the temp directory to it's permanent directory (previously, we were doing it behind Joomla's back, in a way). I'm assuming you have FTP enabled in your Joomla configuration, which is where this error is coming from. If so, can you check the write permissions and owner of the following directories:
/images/ (Where we download the file initially from Facebook)
/images/avatar (Where JomSocial keeps it's avatars)

Thanks. As always, we'll get to the bottom of it. Sorry for the trouble.

Rodster,
We'll be releasing the 3.0.2 release of JFBConnect tomorrow, but unfortunately, we weren't able to recreate the JFTP error you mention above. The only time we could get that error to appear was while we were trying to configure our FTP settings in the Global Configuration area. If we misconfigured the FTP directory, by setting it to a path that wasn't within our Joomla installation structure or to a directory that didn't exist, we'd see that, or similar errors. Whenever we didn't receive any errors when saving our settings in the Global Configuration, we then didn't see any errors when importing our avatar through JFBConnect.

Are you still seeing this issue? Can you check your Global Configuration settings? If everything seems right on your end, we'll probably need to get into your system to see if we can spot something that might be causing the problem.

Thanks,
Alex

Hi Alex,

To check if this had to do with our server configuration in Joomla i added a new user (which is an administrator) in our ftp controlapanel.
so i reconfigiured these settings just to make sure.

settings: FTP Root ->> /public_html/newsite (which is the root on my domain for this website.

At this moment I'm still getting this error.

Not yet. We still can't recreate locally. Would one of you be willing to PM us a super admin account that we can test on your sites with?

Evil,
I just spent a bit of time trying to diagnose the issues on your site.

I tried logging into your site with a few Facebook accounts. I wasn't able to see the JFTP error, but was able to see the non-activated user issue. Some notes on things below:
1) If you go to Help->System Info->Directory Permissions, you'll see that the /images directory is not writable. This is likely the cause that images that we download aren't able to be written to the correct directory. Again, I'm not seeing that error right now, but I also wasn't seeing the image imported into my profile.

2) The activation thing is confusing us. I configured a test environment of our own exactly how your Community Builder and JFBConnect were configured, and didn't have the same issue. I also tried disabling your CB Captcha plugin (and a few others I thought may be problematic), with no luck. I then tried to install extPlorer which is a file manager. I wanted to try editing some of the JFBConnect files to see if we could debug/narrow down the issue. However, when trying to load it in the admin area, I get a few warnings but the editor doesn't load. This is also strange.

We'll keep investigating, but just wanted to let you know what little information we have so far. If you can fix the write permissions on the images directory, that may help us determine if images are being imported, which validates a little more functionality and helps us focus on the activation problem you're having.

Thanks!

I set back all permissions as they should be (i dunno how they changed).
Anyway, consider that if the user is already registered with CB, as he logs in with your component the new image is imported correctly. So i don't think it was a permission problem.

I just tryied again:
The image is uploaded correctly but is waiting for being approved.
You can read that in the user profile and in the image filename: jfbc_894933262pic_tmp.jpg
