So I have managed to fix the problem. But I now see I have a problem when using jomsocial profile types from joomlaxi. Is there some way to have this work with jspt? :) at least I think that'w whats causing my avatar problems. I get this message when logging on :

* There was an error when trying to move FB image (/home/dust/public_html/images/jfbc_1038350348pic_tmp.jpg) to /home/dust/public_html/images/avatar/7f508953fcce980b30670d05.jpg
* There was an issue importing your Facebook avatar. The default avatar will be used.

Never saw what your original issue was since you deleted it. We should work with JSPT, we tested that combo a while back, but haven't recently. We'll try again.

The error above doesn't seem related to the 2, that I can tell. Can you check and make sure that the images/avatar directory is writable? Also, try looking in the images/ directory to see if the jfbc_xxxx_tmp.jpg files are being created. These are downloaded straight from FB to your server. Hopefully, that will help localize the issue.

Hi. My original problem was simply fixed by reading the documentation about order of plugins :P However. I have checked and images/avatar is writeable. It does create the fbc_tmp file, but it is empty.

There's a post about a similar issue on another site. It's obviously rare, but you 2 seem to be experiencing the same thing. I was able to access that user's admin area and see the same 0byte file being created. If you wouldn't mind reading through that post and trying the one fix I suggested (that didn't work), and report your results, that'd be great. If that doesn't work, then I'd like to get access to your Joomla admin area to try some more tests.

Read through the below:

Thanks, and we'll get something going.

We logged into your site and did some preliminary debug & investigation. We're not sure what's causing it, but we're looking into an alternate method of downloading the avatar to the sites with this problem. We'll test on your server, if that's alright with you, once we have something that works on our development systems.

We'd like to get this fix into the 3.0 stable release due later this week if at all possible. While it's very uncommon (2 reports only), avoiding it in the future is always good.

Hello again! I have been lurking around testing stuff, and when I disabled the exporting of jomsocial avatar to facebook, my error message got shortened. It now just says There was an issue importing your Facebook avatar. The default avatar will be used. BUT now it does NOT create a file of 0kb anymore, and I have actually not got any further ... In case it might help :P
