Title

Site is not live, but I'm pushing to get it done. We've been an IIS house for years but I'm trying superior features in the Joomla CMS. We want more content on our site, and everything I find says Joomla is the best. So, I'm running Joomla on IIS 6.0 running on Windows Server 2003 SP2. I installed Isapi Rewrite v3. for an OpenID thing I was going to try, but don't need it now. I like some of the features, but can uninstall if necessary.

Came across your component/plugin for Facebook connect. We want users to be able to create their own login that is just a regular Joomla login or login with their Facebook accounts, and we want employees to log in with the LDAP plugin (working great, except I'd like to put them in the Author group automatically if they login this way). We are planning on making connections between our site and Facebook, so it stands to reason that we would support Facebook Connect as a login method.

I installed your component, took a few days and got it working just fine. I was working on our site and found this week that I can't log out of even a regular Joomla account. I receive a 404 Component Not Found error and clicking back takes me to the previous page and I am still logged in. I receive the same error if I attempt to login with Facebook accounts now. It appears something is wrong with the component, but I can't find it (since I'm not a Joomla or PHP expert) and I can't seem to find any forum entries that resolve the issue.

If I'm not already logged into Facebook, I receive the Facebook login screen and can type my email address and password. When I click 'login' I get the error. If I'm already logged into Facebook, as soon as I click connect, I get the error immediately in the popup.

I can log in just fine with LDAP and with Joomla accounts. Please let me know if you need more information to help with this situation.

First off, awesome avatar.

Login issues/questions:
  • Let's figure out what's going. Is it always a 404 error, or do you ever get a different error (some text you could cut/paste here) that may help us debug the issue?
  • Are you using any SEF components or the Joomla SEF urls?
  • Please ensure that the JFBConnect User plugin is ordered AFTER the Joomla User plugin.
  • Can you try logging in/out with the LDAP plugin disabled. This would only be temporary, there shouldn't be a reason they can't work together, but will help us narrow down and fix any issues if they are from the 2 of them enabled
  • In the JFBConnect Login Module, do you have a valid "Logout Redirection" page selected?

Sorry to just throw a bunch of questions at you, but hopefully something will stick. We'll help you figure it out!

Always a 404. It's in a popup window like you'd get for the Facebook Connect login screen. The URL is "www.valleysupply.net/joomla/index.php/co...877984ee1f9ec0fb4%22}"
and the test on the screen is "404 - Component not found

You may not be able to visit this page because of:

1. an out-of-date bookmark/favourite
2. a search engine that has an out-of-date listing for this site
3. a mistyped address
4. you have no access to this page
5. The requested resource was not found.
6. An error has occurred while processing your request.

Please try one of the following pages:

* Home Page

If difficulties persist, please contact the System Administrator of this site."

I didn't think so, but the plugin is enabled. I went to the global config and 'Search Engine Friendly URL's' was turned on. I turned it off, and then received a 500 View Not Found error when I tried to use the Facebook Connect. It's not a problem for me at this point to not use SEF, does it need to be turned off?

After making sure I was completely logged out, I tried logging in with your component again after turning off SEF and it worked like it was supposed to. I guess I have to chalk this one up to my inexperience with Joomla.

Check

Even though it started working after removing SEF Url's setting, I tried this step and all 3 methods of login worked at the same time with no apparent conflict.

Yes.

I think if you included a document with the installation settings in Joomla and other modules that are known to conflict with your component and why, that would be a great addition. Of course that would likely be a living document that would have to reside on your website, but it would be helpful.

In my case I was un-kowingly using SEF and before your reply, I honestly didn't know what it was. I had to look it up. I saw it in a few posts, but I kept thinking to myself that "I'm not using SEF, I don't even know what it is" so I kept ignoring it and wasn't looking for that setting.

Thanks very much for your help and just for asking all the right questions. I'll come back if I have any more issues.

Sorry to talk a little over your head. We try to be as user-friendly around here as possible, but we can't always know a user's Joomla proficiency. We like helping everyone though.

First off, I think I read everything above correctly, but to summarize: you turned off SEF and everything seems to be working. Mainly want to verify the "everything is working" part.

Regarding SEF, yes, it definitely seems like you had SEF enabled. However, Joomla SEF is not known to cause any problems with JFBConnect. It's best if you could be able to re-enable it so you get.. well.. your SEF URLs :) There are also 3rd party components that do SEF for Joomla and there have been instances in the past of incompatabilities, and that was the main question. If you look through all your components, check if you have sh404SEF, ArtioSEF, AceSEF, or just about any other component with the word "SEF" in it.

If you'd like us to look into the issue more, feel free to PM (Private Message) us a link to your site and a super administration login. You can PM us by clicking the little down arrow under my picture to the left and then clicking on the mail envelope.
