Hi,

I have the fbconnect installed and integrated with jomsocial.

I have tried and tried but I cant't seam to figure out what the problem is.

This is the case: I have the fbconnect link in the login/register box and when I click it, it also pops up with the fb window as intended. And here I enter my fb e-mail and password and click login. So far so good. A jomsocial popup appears but it is blank and it stays on and nothing more happends.

Maybe you can try it your self. Follow this link: www.seniorfryd.dk/index.php/jomsocial

If you need further information to help me, please let me know.

Thanks, Morten

Update: I can actually manage to get a little further, all the way through the popup forms until the account should be applied. Then the popup-window just stays as a blank and nothing more happends. AND, I can see in the backend, that the use is actually applied, but only in the Joomla user directory and NOT in the Jomsocial.

If you try to go throuhg the register process I will of course delete your account after.

You're site is using JomSocial's Facebook Connect integration, not JFBConnect. If you are using JFBConnect, you should disable JomSocial's FB capabilities by removing your API/Secret key from their component. Then, enable the JFBCLogin module and test from there.

JomSocial's Facebook Connect and JFBConnect do not play well together, you can only use one.

Okay, but I can't have two login modules running at the same time - on the same page. And the fbconnect module is a login module. So the fb button should integrate with the jomsocial login box to make sense. How should I else then get the fb connect button placed on the page where the jomsocial loginbox is?

You actually can have 2 login modules on the same page, from 2 separate components. We do so on our demonstration page for JomSocial and JFBConnect:
facebook.sourcecoast.com/jomsocial-home-page

You can configure JFBCLogin for very good integration with your site and still use a different registration/login module. In the JFBCLogin module, you can hide the Login portion of the module altogether, and just show the "Connect with Facebook" button. Then, you can place this module in any position on your site to integrate it into your look and feel however you like.

It looks as though you're already on this path with some changes I'm seeing on your site where it looks like you've disabled the login portion and are placing the button in the "mainbottom" module position.

Let us know if you're still running into issues or need other help!

Yes I am working my way ahead. And I think it works the way it is intended, when I set it up the way you explain.

I am, though, having difficulties finding a proper position for the fbmodule. Partly because it ought to bepositioned around the js loginmodule to make sense to the user, and patly because it stays (and expands) when logged in, which is a challenge to the rest of the layout. It therefore would be better if it just integrated into the excisting js loginmodule.

Second, it seams to me that it does not integrate that much into js as I will loose my stream in the profile, mike likes etc. These are applications that is integrated into the js fb-connect.

So, bottum line is that, what I get out of the fbconnet is more or less the fb-invite. And the "cost" is loosing all the other integration and challenging my layout.

Am I wrong? I hope so... :-)

For positioning the module where you want it, we'd recommend Modules Anywhere. This is a great extension which lets you place modules within other components or templates anywhere on your page. If there's text you'd like removed from the "Logout" view, we can certainly help you to customize that to your needs.

As for integration, JFBConnect is intended to inter-operate with multiple different large components, including JomSocial. We are a different component with different features from JomSocial's implementation, which is why we are still used on many JomSocial sites, even though they have an integrated solution. We allow for selecting which profile fields are imported from Facebook, posting to the user's Facebook wall on login and registration, silent registration, the ability to post to wall from other components by adding a few lines of code, and more. In addition, we have the JFBCInvite module (included) and there is the FB Comments plugin available from a 3rd party on CMS Market.

Hope that helps clarify some of the benefits.

When I look at the HTML on your page, there should be a reference to an all.js Javascript file that we include from Facebook's servers. I can't find it.

You look to have a minification script running (to compress the page). Try disabling it temporarily to see if things start working correctly.

If the Javascript is not included properly, that would cause problems. If it's being bunched together with a lot of other scripts (which minification does a lot of the time), that could also be the problem.
