I kept getting "Facebook API Error: This IP can't make requests for that application"
Changed IP address and created a new Facebook App then entered App ID and secret key.

However in the Facebook Application Configuration the old App ID still displays. How can I purge it without deleting the other App?

In the Autotune -> Facebook App section click the "Refresh" button in the top menu bar. That will refetch your settings and update any recommendations for your site.

I'm not sure what you mean about "deleting the other app". If you're replacing your old app, you don't need to delete the old one, but your settings in that app won't be used any more.

I hope that helps,
Alex

Your advice hasn't worked.

I have the new app listed, but the old one is still connected and displaying. Keep getting this message: Error
Facebook API Error: This IP can't make requests for that application.

"Facebook Application configuration could not be loaded. Please check your App ID and Secret Key"
Driving me nuts. I have a new IP address, but the old app which Facebook blocked seems un-removable.

Has Facebook placed a restriction on the user i.d. rather than the ip address?

We've never heard of a block on a user ID, but I wouldn't be surprised if they've done that before. As for your issue.. are you able to configure your application in their Facebook Developer area ?

If you can, please make sure that you haven't specified an IP Whitelist for your Application, either old or new. If you have, delete the setting.

I hope that helps, but if not, keep me posted and we'll help however we can.

Thanks,
Alex

The new app is working in Facebook and shows up in the Linter. Alas in JFBConnect the old record is still displaying. Hence, I can't see how it can be a Facebook issue.

From the message "Facebook API Error: This IP can't make requests for that application. ", it definitely sounds like a Facebook issue. For some reason, they don't like your IP address. Even if the IP is new to you, it's most definitely been used for other sites before, and likely been blocked there.

The Linter doesn't check the IP address the site is on because that's just scraping the front-end contents of your site. Likewise, the FB Developer Area will let you setup an application, but it doesn't necessary know what IP that domain will be run from.

From the information you've given me, and the error your seeing, it seems like your IP address, as the error mentions, can't be used to configure the settings for the Application. JFBConnect relies on the API to make requests from your site to be able to set the configuration details we recommend.

If you can't run the Autotune tool to configure you're app, I'd recommend setting up the app manually in the Developer area with the settings we recommend in the Autotune area. You won't be able to 'see' those settings reflected in the Autotune tool, but that shouldn't affect your app. Once configured, try authenticating on the front end (or do other Facebook stuff) and see if you continue to run into problems. That will help us narrow down how to proceed. If you continuously see that error about your IP though, it's indicative that the IP address is in fact blocked.

I hope that helps,
Alex
