Open Graph Actions was created by saldon
Hi,

I am configuring an Open Graph Action in order to post an action to the users timeline.

I have applied all steps described in the documentation. I have created the "Recipe Object" and "Cook" action in both FB app and Joomla.

I have created a button to trigger the action through the code {JFBCAction id=2 text=My Button Text}. It is correctly displayed on Joomla pages.

When I test the action by logging into the site with the Facebook administrator account and click on the button, the popup is correctly opened but once I click on the "Post to Timeline" button the popup disappears and no action is performed.

The activity Log in the JFBConnect-->OpenGraph--->Log section is empty and no activity is recorded on the Facebook timeline.

May you help me to fix this issue?

Thanks and regards
Salvatore

Salvatore,
Sorry for the delayed response to this. Can you go to the JFBConnect -> Configuration area and set the "Enable Debug Mode" setting to "Yes". Then, there may be an error message in the 'blue box' popup that should appear when an action is triggered.

If that doesn't help, can you go to the JFBConnect -> Configuration -> Facebook area and set the "Show 'Login Credentials' in popup" to "Yes", if not already. When "No", that setting can cause some issues with the Open Graph Action button.

If that doesn't help, let us know, and we can help investigate further. Also, if you can post, or Private Message, the URL of the page where the Action button is shown, we can look at the HTML to make sure things look right.

Thanks,
Alex

Hi Alex,

I have enabled the debug mode and now in the 'blue box' popup appear the following error: Action is not associated to the object type of this page.

From HTML code of the page the Object type is: <meta property="og:type" content="article"/>

I attach what I have configured in both Joomla and FB App.

What is wrong?

Thanks and regards
Salvatore

In the JFBConnect -> Open Graph -> Object settings, do you have the category set properly in the right-hand side? You'll need to make sure the right category is selected so that the object is applied to all of the articles within that category.

Other things to check try are:
* Disable all other Open Graph plugins except the Open Graph - Content one. That way, you know that no other plugin is trying to set the object type for that page.
* Disable all other objects you've created except for the "ricetta" object.

Hopefully, that will help narrow things down and hopefully get the og:type property to be set right on those pages. Once that happens, things should start working.

Thanks,
Alex

Yes, the category is set properly...even if the action button is shown in all categories of the site. Is it a normal behaviour?

I have also disabled the "Open Graph - Custom Object" plugin and all other objects I have created except for the "ricetta".

Unfortunately the error is always the same.

Could I send you a private message with the URL of the page in order to check the source code?

Thanks and regards
Salvatore

Hi Alex,

I sent you a PM with the URL and a FB test user account. Please let me know if you have any news about a solution.

To investigate further, I'll need admin access to the website. The og:type on the page you linked to you in your PM has a type of 'article'. From your settings above, that's incorrect and we'll need to understand the JFBConnect Open Graph configuration you've setup to determine why the object you created isn't properly being applied to the page.

Can you PM me admin details?

Thanks,
Alex

Thanks for the limited access. Unfortunately, I can't determine what's happening from what I can see in the admin area.

I can't see the Joomla article manager, which means I can't check the category and article structure for the article your trying to test with vs the object you created. Additionally, I tried to disable the Artio JoomlSEF plugin, but the URLs on the front-end remain SEF. I don't have access to the Global Configuration area to disable SEF URLs there for testing either. Finally, the JotCache plugin can't be disabled since it's checked out by a super admin.

If you could, please either:
* Upgrade my account so I can actually investigate your site settings and understand things better
* Try disabling JotCache and SEF URLs and see if the page's og:type is set properly when those are disabled.

Thanks,
Alex
