Topic-icon Redirecting to Login screen after changing password

I use JFBConnect for months and it works right. But during the last week I changed my password.

So now when I click on the "Facebook" button, instead of automatically logging in, Iam redirected to the login screen which requires me to re-enter Username and Password.

So what is the purpose if I have to do it every time? Possibly JFBConnect doesn't save any password changes. You might say that I have to clear cookies, passwords etc. but the average user doesn't know that!

I'm not going to tell you to clear your cookies or anything like that. Your password in Facebook or in Joomla shouldn't affect your account whatsoever, so I'm not sure what's happening here. The only time you should be brought to the page you linked to should only occur if JFBConnect doesn't think there is any 'mapping' between the Facebook account and any Joomla user on your site.

Can you check that the JFBConnect -> Usermap area has a proper connection between your Facebook account and a Joomla user on your site?

Thanks,
Alex

In the User Map it only shows the "Twitter" icon in my profile. What should I do?
I changed the password for one digit and I have the same issue when logging in from Joomla (without Facebook Connect)

If Twitter is all that shows there, it means that your account isn't connected to a Facebook account. I'm not sure why that would be, but the only way that connections are deleted are:
* If an admin has deleted the connection manually from the user map area
* The user has been deleted from the User Manager
* The user, on the front-end, has re-associated their Joomla account with a different Facebook account. In this case, the connection between FB user and Joomla user will be changed, but it should still exist in the admin area.

Again, there's absolutely no link between a user's password, either on Facebook or your Joomla site. The link is completely based off the user's Joomla ID (which should never change) and their Facebook User ID (which never changes).

From what you describe above, it seems there's no connection between the Joomla user and Facebook and you'll need to make that connection.

Of course, if you make the connection please test anything you think may be causing problems. If, after a successful connection (you can login with that user in FB and the connection shows up in the User Map area), try changing any passwords and make sure things are still linked. We've never heard of any issues like you mention, but if you come up with a way that causes issues, we'll gladly investigate further.

Thanks,
Alex

The 3rd thing you mentioned is what happened:
"* The user, on the front-end, has re-associated their Joomla account with a different Facebook account. In this case, the connection between FB user and Joomla user will be changed, but it should still exist in the admin area. "

Sometimes I login with my second account. But the point is that when I click "Connect with Facebook" I NEVER put the 2nd account details. I don't know why your module connect with this second account but you should better have a look at it.

As for the Password request, this error above happened when I changed my password through User Manager (not from my profile in the main site). Until that day, the Facebook Account was normally connected to "Manos" and I could properly login. The fact that someone changes password also affects Joomla. When I use Chrome browser and I change password through User Manager, Chrome is like not understanding the new password and always asks me to re-enter it. This also happens in phpbb forum where I have bridging. So it doesn't only have to do with Facebook Connect.

Unfortunately I use Joomla 2.6 so whatever I tell to Joomla.org I doubt they will help. They will ask me to install 3.x which is a suicide due to lack of support in modules.

The only times the re-connection should occur is if you are already logged into Joomla with your second account and click the Facebook button from the SCLogin module. If your Facebook account is already connected to the first account, the mapping *will* be updated in that case.

If you're completely logged out of the site and click the "Facebook" login button, you should only be logged into the main account that it's connected with. It should never re-map in that scenario.

We haven't heard of any cases where a re-connection is occurring incorrectly, other than what you mention above. If you can narrow down the specific ordering of events that causes the re-connection to happen at an incorrect time, we'll gladly investigate further, but we're not aware of any scenario that does it.. and we test these features quite a bit.

Please let us know the exact steps you take and if it's repeatable on your site every time, and we'll definitely get to the bottom of things.

Thanks,
Alex
