JFBConnect v6.3 is available now. This release brings over 50 new features, usability improvements and bug-fixes. The major updates include Joomla 3.4 compatibility, Yahoo integration, a new front-end method for letting users manage their social network connections, social sharing improvements and new debugging features to help narrow down issues even faster.
With JFBConnect, your website will cover authentication from more than 98% of the providers on the chart above.
Over the last year and a half, we've added 10 different social network authentication providers. While we don't plan to add nearly so many going forward, Yahoo has been consistently requested. This new release delivers on the feedback we've heard from you, our amazing JFBConnect users, by letting your visitors authenticate and have their profiles imported from Yahoo.
Of course, with JFBConnect, you have full control over how the user's profile is imported from Yahoo into various popular profile extensions like EasySocial, JomSocial, Community Builder, Alpha User Points, HikaShop, the Joomla - User Profile plugin and more.
JFBConnect provides extensive power to allow your users to authenticate with 11 different social networks. In previous versions, it's been difficult for a user to quickly see which networks they've authenticated with or, if necessary, to sever the connection between a specific social network and their Joomla account. Well no more! Now, you can easily create a new menu item to let user's quickly see which social networks they've connected with along with links to each profile.
It can't be easier for your users to manage their social network connections and feel even more comfortable making those links to your site!
The latest release of JFBConnect has been fully tested and updated to support Joomla 3.4. While there were only minor issues with Joomla 3.4, mainly regarding strict standards and other PHP messages, it's recommended to upgrade to JFBConnect v6.3 for the best compatibility with Joomla 3.4+.
The social stream was one of the best received features in 2014. By showing a combined activity stream from the most popular social networks, your users can see what's happening on your site and your niche in a flash.
New features have been added to the social stream to let you show the poster's avatar, show or hide comments associated with each post and to add direct links to each post so your visitors have an easier way to engage with your Facebook Page, Twitter Stream or LinkedIn Company Page.
In May 2014, Facebook announced the new Graph API v2.0. That update changed the interface through which JFBConnect connects to authenticate and get information about each user. JFBConnect initially supported Graph API v2.0 with JFBConnect v6.1, released in June last year.
On May 1st, 2015, all apps and websites that do not support Graph API v2.0 will cease to function. If you're not already using at least JFBConnect v6.1, we highly recommend upgrading as soon as possible.
Expect a more detailed blog post on JFBConnect's Graph API support over the next few weeks.
